Android Market apps removal

Posted by pedro

I've been receiving some emails regarding why my apps are not on the Android Market and how can they be obtained.

The reason my applications and games are not in the Android Market is because my account got suspended because I published an application (you can see it here: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/location-security-exploit-on-samsung-devices/ ) that allowed users to check if their device had a security hole that allows the exploitation of user location against the user knowledge or consent. In the thread relating to the application I even left advice on how to solve for the devices where it occurred, but someone at Google though that my application was infringing the "application must not harm device or people", and although it didn't because of this my entire account was suspended and my applications removed.

Meanwhile I send them various emails regarding the subject, and finally got a responses where they said I could not reinstate my account, but I could place the applications that did not infringe the developer agreement back on the Market with another account, so I intend to do just that. I plan to have Trivial Droid back on the Market before the end of the 2011.

Meanwhile  you can obtain copies of my applications via other Markets such as:

Trivial Droid Change-Log

Posted by pedro

This is the change-log for the Android game Trivial Droid:

Note: Just a clarification from a comment I've seen: "Really Nice quiz Dont understand why it needs to have access to make calls though". The game doesn't access the calling functionalities of the phone. Ever! But because it uses the online service ScoreLoop for handling online scores, it needs to read details of the phone that it uses to validate your identity, and that's all ;) .

Also someone asked this "Why does it need permission to find my location with GPS?". This is used by the ads layer. Ads try to figure your position to determine the best ads to serve. Many other ad-supported use that.

UPDATE : You can check the online high-scores from your computer as well, just go to http://pedrodh.info/?p=32
